MAN WITH A MISSION appeared on the EARTH STAGE at the count down concert event, COUNTDOWN JAPAN 13/14, and announced the release of their 3rd album in March immediately after the clock struck midnight of New Year’s Day.
The band has participated in COUNTDOWN JAPAN every year since their major-label debut in 2011 marking the third time this year taking on the role of performing the countdown on the biggest stage of the event, “EARTH STAGE”. Right off the bat, MAN WITH A MISSION swallowed the crowd whole with some up-tempo tunes.
As they put on an earth-shaking performance lighting the crowd on fire, 10-FEET’s TAKUMA appeared as a guest on stage to perform “database feat. TAKUMA (10-Feet)”. With little breathing room, the band sprinted through their aggressive show until the last song of 2013, “FLY AGAIN”. The entire crowd raised their arms in the air and swayed left to right as the band put on a fitting countdown stage.
While the crowd’s voltage was at its peak, the countdown was projected onto the screen. Everyone there shouted the countdown in unison: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Tapes covered the hall as the phrase “2014 HAPPY NEW YEAR” appeared on screen. The first song of 2014 was “Get Off of My Way”, turning the entire hall into a dance hall as the crowd danced away.
Jean-Ken Johnny (Gt, Vo, Raps) announced during the MC, “Happy New Year. We never imagined that we’d be able to see such a beautiful scene so early in the year. Thank you so much. MAN WITH A MISSION will keep sprinting in 2014. We have an important announce to make. We will be releasing a new album in the spring.” The crowd went even wilder as they were hit with this surprise announcement.
Keeping the voltage level high, the show approached the climax in its last number “Emotions”. Everyone there that day savored the moment of the countdown together at this very special stage.
The new album announced this time would be the band’s third and the first album release in 20 months that everyone had been waiting for. It is a concept album revealing a new dimension to MAN WITH A MISSION.
With a one-man concert at Makuhari Messe already set and a debut in American looming this fall, 2014 would surely be an ambitious year for the band.
