SMAP to release their 52nd single in April

SMAP will be releasing their 52nd single "Yes we are / Koko Kara" on April 9th.

The group's first single of 2014 is a double A-side including "Koko Kara" which was written and composed by Wada Sho (TRICERATOPS), and "Yes we are" which was written and composed by Sakai Yu and arranged by Mori Toshiyuki. 

"Koko Kara" was written as the project song for Nihonbashi's community development. It will support Nihonbashi as "a city where people who gather can flap their wings into the future and the world." Meanwhile, "Yes we are" will be used as the theme song for TBS' news program 'N Sta' from April. 

The single will be released in 4 different versions: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, Regular Edition, and a Limited Edition for the grand opening of 'COREDO Muromachi' in Nihonbashi. The Limited Edition A DVD will contain the PV for "Yes we are" and the Limited Edition B DVD will contain the PV for "Koko Kara". Aside the two title tracks, the Regular Edition will include one more song.

SMAPの通算51枚目となるシングル。「シャレオツ」は、草なぎ剛主演のフジテレビ系ドラマ『独身貴族』の主題歌で、聴くだけで気分が高揚してくるポッ プ・ソング。さらに、ハローキティ40周年(2013年時)記念オフィシャル・ソングで、クリープハイプの尾崎世界観が手掛けたバラード「ハロー」を収 録。SMAPならではの遊び心と優しさが詰まった両A面シングル。

Details on SMAP’s upcoming single revealed

As previously reported, SMAP is set to release their 50th single “Joy!!” on June 5, and the details on the single have now been revealed.

The title track is an upbeat song, written and composed by Akai Kouen’s Tsuno Maisa, and it is being used as the theme song for a member Katori Shingo’s starring drama “Kasuka na Kanojo” (currently airing on Fuji TV).

“Joy!!” will have five different versions in total, and each version will have different content and cover jacket. There will be four limited editions: “Vivid Orange version”, “Lime Green Version”, “Sky Blue Version” that includes a DVD, and “Shocking Pink Version” that is CD only but comes with an analog sized jacket cover.

The fifth one, “Lemon Yellow Version” will be the regular edition. The first pressed copies of the “Lemon Yellow Version” will include a lottery ticket for an event “Minna de Odorou! Joy!! Dance Event.”

Additionally, the single will also include a lottery ticket to attend a fan meeting event for “Kasuka na Kanojo”, as well as a serial code which you can enter in to win some merchandise that are not for sale. Moreover, everyone who collects all five serial codes will get a DVD that contains a different version of the MV for “Joy!!”

SMAP’s new song chosen as theme song for ‘N sta’

SMAP’s new song, “Yes we are“, has been chosen as the theme song for TBS news program, ‘N sta‘, starting on April 1st.

“Yes we are” was written and composed by Sakai Yu and arranged by Mori Toshiyuki. It’s a large scale message song about human love.

Inagaki Goro commented, “We are very happy to receive this opportunity for our song to be used in the news program, ‘N sta’. It would make us happy if people who watch it become cheerful through this song.”

The release date for “Yes we are” is undecided at this time.

SMAP tops Oricon weekly single ranking with ‘Mistake!/Battery’

Popular group SMAP’s 49th single “Mistake!/Battery” (released on February 27th) sold 162,000 copies in the first week, and topped Oricon weekly single ranking for the week of March 11th.

This marks SMAP’ 16th consecutive chart topping single (and 27th single in total) since “freebird” (released in May 2002), and also the 49th consecutive single to be ranked in TOP 10 since their debut single “Can’t Stop!!-Loving-” (released in September 1991). With this single, they have renewed their own record for “number of consecutive singles ranked in TOP10″ and “total number of works ranked in TOP10″ (for male artist).
