Kanjani8 chosen as the main personality for this year's 24-Hour TV

It was revealed that 7-member group Kanjani8 has been chosen as the main personality for NTV's annual telethon 24-Hour Television. 

The announcement was made on "Ganjitsu wa TOKIO×Arashi Ultraman DASH, Arashi ni Shiyagare 2-Jikanhan Special" which aired on New Year's day. 

This will be the second time for the group to take the role, as they previously have been the main personality for the program back in 2011. Member Yokoyama You left the comment, "We would like to send out a bright and cheerful message in a way which only Kanjani8 could do."

Details on Kanjani8's new single 'Hibiki' revealed

 

The details on Kanjani8's new single "Hibiki", which will be released on January 15th, have been revealed. 

 

This is the second part to Kanjani's 3-month consecutive single release project. The first, "Kokoro Sora Moyou", was recently released on December 4th. "Hibiki" is a medium-tempo number that will be used as the theme song for Okura Tadayoshi's starring drama 'Dr.DMAT' airing on TBS starting in January. 

 

The single will be released in both limited and regular editions. As the coupling track, both versions will include a song called "Winter pop" which was written and composed by UNIST's TAMATEBOX. 

 

The limited edition will come with a DVD containing the PV and making footage for "Hibiki". Meanwhile, the regular edition will include another coupling track titled "Frozen Margarita" written, composed, and arranged by SHIKATA.

To commemorate the release of the 3 singles, the group will hold an event called 'Kanjani8 no Kai 2014'. Those who purchased all 3 singles can enter a lottery to win tickets. The events will be held in Tokyo and Osaka. More details will be revealed later.

Kanjani8 to release new singles for 3 consecutive months

Kanjani8 will be releasing new singles for 3 consecutive months starting in December. They will release "Kokoro Sora Moyou" on December 4th, a currently untitled single on January 15th, and "King of Otoko!" on February 19th. 

 

The second single will be used as the theme song for the upcoming TBS drama 'Dr.DMAT' starring Okura Tadayoshi. Meanwhile, "King of Otoko!" has been picked up as the theme song for the movie 'Mogura no Uta' which will open in theaters on February 15th. The lyrics for "King of Otoko!" is written by Wakadanna. 

More details on the upcoming singles will be revealed at a later date, so stay tuned!

Kanjani8's Starring Film "Eight Ranger" To Have A Sequel

Movie 'Eight Ranger' starring popular idol group Kanjani8 will be getting a sequel with a tentative title "Eight Ranger 2."

 

The announcement was made on the first day of the group's 5 major dome tour "Kanjani8 LIVE TOUR JUKE BOX" held at the Tokyo Dome on November 8. Just as the original movie, the sequel will also be directed by Tsutsumi Yukihiko.

 

'Eight Ranger' was originally a Sentai parody corner performed since in 2005 at the group's concerts. Set in the near future in Japan, it depicted the activities of idiosyncratic heroes -- Black (Yokoyama Yu), Red (Shibutani Subaru), Nasu (Murakami Shingo), Orange (Maruyama Ryuhei), Blue (Yasuda Shota), Yellow (Nishikido Ryo), and Green (Okura Tadayoshi). 

Regarding the sequel, Yokoyama said, "I'm just happy, since the requests for the sequel have reached us. Though the details are unknown as the script has not been finished yet, I heard that it will have a lot of comedic elements."

The filming will begin in February 2014, and the release date will be sometime next summer.

 

In addition to the announcement for the 'Eight Ranger' sequel, it was also announced that Kanjani8 will be releasing 3 singles for 3 consecutive months that include "Kokoro Sora Moyou" on December 4, an untitled single on January 15, and "King of Otoko!" on February 19.

Kanjani8 will release their new single "Kokoro Sora Moyou" on December 4th.

The group's 3rd single of the year is the theme song for Nishikido Ryo's starring drama 'Yorozu Uranai Dokoro Onmyouya e Youkoso'. It was written and composed by 3-member unit UNIST. The song is described as a refreshing number with positive messages such as "instead of being seized with sorrow, let's share the joy that is close to us" and "the world changes depending on our feelings". 

The single will be released in both limited and regular editions. As the coupling track, it will include a new song called "Asayake no Taiyou". 

The limited edition DVD will contain the video clip and making for "Kokoro Sora Moyou". Meanwhile, the regular edition will come with another coupling track titled "Kujira to Penguin" and 3 karaoke tracks.

Kanjani8's New Album 'JUKE BOX' Revealed

The details on Kanjani8's new album "JUKE BOX" has been revealed.

The album will feature a total of 15 tracks including their already released singles "Aoppana", "Heso Magari", "Koko ni Shika Nai Keshiki", and "Namida no Kotae". It will also contain brand new songs written by artists such as ISEKI (Kimaguren), Skoop On Somebody, Dohzi-T, Maeyamada Kenichi (HYADAIN), and Inoue Joe.   

The lead song is titled "TAKOYAKI in my heart" by Maeyamada. Its lyrics incorporate descriptions of an Osaka native as well as Osaka's foods and festivals. The video clip was shot on September 4th in front of Tsutenkaku with 1,000 fans. 

"JUKE BOX" will come in 3 different types: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, and Regular Edition. Limited Edition A's DVD will come with a documentary of the members talking about their album and tour during a barbecue. As for Limited Edition B, it will come with a DVD including the PV for "TAKOYAKI in my heart" and a prologue video.

Kanjani8 announce new album + dome tour

It's been revealed that Kanjani8 will be releasing their new album "JUKE BOX" on October 16. They will also be holding their nationwide tour 'Kanjani8 LIVE TOUR JUKE BOX' starting in November. 

"JUKE BOX" is the group's 6th original album, and it's also their first since releasing "FIGHT" about a year and 11 months ago. It features a variety of songs from rock, pop, folk, and dance. More details such as the track list and participating artists will be revealed later.

Kanjani8's upcoming tour will kick off on November 8th at Tokyo Dome. It will run until next year with the finale on January 19 at Kyocera Dome Osaka.

Kanjani8 announces new single “Namida no Kotae”

Kanjani8 will be releasing a new single titled “Namida no Kotae“, which will be used as the theme song for member Okura Tadayoshi’s movie “100-kai Naku Koto“ (premiering in theaters on June 22) on June 12.

The title track is a ballad song written and composed by SEKAI NO OWARI members.

Limited editions A, B, and a regular edition will be available. The music clip for limited edition A has a storyline in which friends who are walking on each of their own paths have a reunion and look back on their old times together. For limited edition B, a different video of the members singing and the making-of will be included.

The first pressed copies of the regular edition will come with the special track “∞th ANNIVERSARY Single’s Remix” that was used during the credit roll for the group’s live DVD “KANJANI∞ LIVE TOUR!! 8EST ~Minna no Omoi wa Donandai? Bokura no Omoi wa Mugendai!!~.”

Kanjani8 to release a new double A-side single in April

It’s been announced that Kanjani8 will be releasing their first single for 2013 “Hesomagari/Koko ni shika nai Keshiki” on April 24.

One of the title tracks “Hesomagari” will be used as the theme song for upcoming drama “Otenki Oneesan” which Okura Tadayoshi will appear, and the song is said to be an upper tune which encourages you to tackle the difficulty boldly.

The other title track “Koko ni shika nai Keshiki” has been chosen as the theme song for Nishikido Ryo’s starring movie “Kenchou Omotenashi Ka“, and it’s a medium number which expresses the feelings toward your precious places. Its music clip includes footage that was filmed by each member at 7 different locations across the country.

Kanjani8 holds their first open-air live concert + more tour dates announced

On September 16th, popular idol group, Kanjani8, held their tour “8EST ~Minna no Omoi wa Dou Nandai? Bokura no Omoi wa Mugendai!!~” at Tokyo’s Ajinomoto Stadium.

The group is holding this nationwide tour in commemoration of the 8th anniversary of their CD debut. The group started the tour at the same venue on the 15th and will continue touring through 10 different cities until the end of December. Member, Murakami Shingo (30), said, “Thankfully, we’ve added some more performances. We will be performing at the Tokyo Dome on November 10th and 11th. We will also be performing at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka on December 30th and 31st and January 1st.”

Furthermore, with these additional tour dates added and including their 8th anniversary event this summer, the total number of the audience attended will be 880,000 fans. Yokoyama Yu (31) expressed his thanks to the fans, “We are naturally a group sticked to the number 8, so I am happy that we’ll be able to perform for 880,000 fans. It seems this is something the staff put some consideration into. I am so grateful.”

The group will also be releasing their best album “8EST” on October 17th. Murakami said, “The first press edition’s bonus DVD is packed full of things. It’s really awesome.”

Ajinomoto Stadium was the group’s first open-air concert. Nishikido Ryo (27) smiled, “The breeze feels great~!”. Kanjani8 performed in front of 55,000 fans who were waving their penlights. Fans were also pleased to see the return of the ‘Eight Rangers’ during the comedy corner of the concert, since it has been around two years since they were last seen.

Kanjani 8 reveals the jacket covers for their new single, ‘Aoppana’

As reported previously, Kanjani8 will be releasing their new single, “Aoppana” on September 5th. The jacket covers for the single have now been revealed. The track list for the regular edition of the single includes “Aoppana“, “Hana de Are“, “8nen Mono” and “Onboro Story“.

“Aoppana” is used as the theme song for the TBS drama “Boys on the Run“, which stars Kanjani8’s Maruyama Ryuhei. It is a melody that captures the vitality and immaturity of our youth and describes the reckless pursuit of one’s dream despite shame and criticism from others. Like Kanjani8’s “Monjai Beat“, which was released in 2011, the lyrics for “Aoppana” are penned by Dohatsuten’s Masuko Naozumi (Vo) and the melody is composed by Kamiharako Tomoyasu(G).

“Hana de Are” draws upon the analogy of a flower blooming despite difficult and sad days, while “8nen Mono” is a song that depicts the friendships between comrades as they share their joys and sorrows. “Onboro Story” is described as a pop melody with a tune that’s full of hope.
