Tomohisa Yamashita To Release Full Album "A NUDE" On September 11th

Tomohisa Yamashita is going to release his first full album in more than a year. "A NUDE" contains a lot of collaborations in producing but also some features with SMAP's Katori Shingo (for "PAri-PArA") and another one with Kis-My-Ft2's Fujigaya Taisuke (for "NEXTACTION")

Along with his new album, Tomohisa will start a new nationalwide tour called "TOMOHISA YAMASHITA LIVE TOUR 2013 -A NUDE-" at Nagasaki Brick Hall on October 5th

The main theme of this work is expressed on the title itself: the "A" stands for "Autumn" ("ee" in Kansai dialect) but also for "analog". The jacket cover also reprises the idea of this season, since Tomohisa lays on a bed of fallen red leaves.

Tomohisa Yamashita Discusses Being A Solo Artist For The Past Year

Last October, Tomohisa Yamashita left NEWS to focus on his solo career. A year later, the singer sat down for an interview to discuss the challenges he's faced going solo as well as what he wants for his future.

"Although for the past year I've realized how immature I was, going solo has been satisfactory. Looking back, I was very spoiled by having the members. Still, I have no regrets," Yamashita said about being solo this past year.

One of the things Yamashita learned from being solo this past year was that concerts are completely different when done on your own. The singer studied the way great performers like Michael Jackson and Madonna carried themselves on stage to help improve his solo performances.

"I watched the way they handled themselves onstage; the way they walk, sing, body expressions, and how they handle the atmosphere. When there was no dance choreography, I sang in place even though I was free to do my own moves. Now I know not to overlook that part," he shared.

Since going solo, Yamashita has received attention for the acting roles he has booked. One role is as a celebrity detective in the new series "MONSTERS", co-starring with SMAP's Katori Shingo. Because he doesn't have much experience with comedy roles, he studied various movies to improve his acting.

"I studied some words and expressions that I can't do...I want be someone who can do various roles, and to just to see the world in different light," he said.

Looking towards the future, the singer has been studying English for the past year. His hope is to one day be cast in an Hollywood movie. Though his journey has been a difficult one, Yamashita hopes that in the future all his hard work and struggles will pay off.

Katori Shingo & Yamashita Tomohisa’s unit ‘The MOSTERS’ reveals single details

As we reported previously, Katori Shingo (SMAP) and Yamashita Tomohisa have formed a new unit The MONSTERS, and will be singing the theme song for their upcoming drama series, ‘MONSTERS‘ (begins airing on October 21st on TBS).

The theme song also titled “MONSTERS“ that was written and composed by Katori and Yamashita together, and was produced by Jeff Miyahara, will be released in five different editions.  Though originally set for release on November 14th,  its release date has been postponed to November 28th.

Yamashita Tomohisa to release a live DVD/Blu-ray for his “Ero-P” tour

In tandem with Yamashita Tomohisa’s new album “Ero”, Yamashita performed at the Yokohama Arena from August 3rd to the 5th as a part of his Japan tour “TOMOHISA YAMASHITA LIVE TOUR 2012 ~ERO-P~”.

The performances opened with Yamashita dressed in a white-feathered outfit descending from the ceiling on a lip-shaped object that has been used as the tour logo. When Yamashita performed his song “ERO -2012 version-” and displayed his sensual view of the world, he quickly put the 15,000 fans in attendance into a state of intoxication. He followed the performance with the song “Ai, Texas,” in which he changed the serif in the interlude into a Yokohama version and announced with a sunny voice: “The truth is I see everyone here with an erotic eye.”

Midway through the concert, he selected a random fan from the audience, brought them to the stage, sat down, and sang with the fan on a sofa while he changed his clothes on stage. He was accompanied by a samba dance group and gave many “ERO-P”-style performances. For the tour this time around, Miles Walker, who has worked with artists like Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Usher, served as the sound engineer, while Korea’s Kim Seo Ryeong worked with the stage production. With the support of top-notch international staff members, Yamashita’s performances were completed at a consistent high level.

The 6 performances left on the tour will take place in Fukuoka, Hokkaido, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Finally, a DVD and Blu-ray of the tour will be released on November 28th.
