GACKT held his school festival tour "90th Camui♂Gakuen de Semenasai" beginning with a performance at Osaka ACT Hall on November 23 and followed by a performance in Nagoya. He then performed three consecutive days at the Chiba Port Arena in the Kantou Area beginning on December 13.
"Camui♂Gakuen" began as an event that was limited to fan club members but is now held in an "open campus style" that anyone can attend. The concept of the event is a school festival at which GACKT wears a school uniform and black-rimmed glasses and becomes a student council president. The motto is to "Be serious in play, serious about learning, and put one's life on the line to tackle everything," so everything about the event is serious. There is a dress code of school uniforms established for both the attendees and the staff, and at the "school shop," original Camui♂Gakuen school items are sold. There is also a "school cafeteria" on the grounds at which attendees can purchase food and drink. It is a unique project at which fans can experience things different from usual tours. Because everything is taken on with a sense of seriousness, fans can enjoy themselves completely. It is adult enjoyment that is set up by GACKT.
The event with fully-loaded with a high degree of seriousness. After the chime of the school bell, they began the event by singing the Camui♂Gakuen school song. The vice principal instructed attendees on the special Camui♂Gakuen greetings. Next GACKT as Gakuto Kamui, the student council president and son of Camui♂Gakuen's board chairman, walked in leisurely on a red carpet from the back of the venue and was engulfed in a sea of cheers of "President!"
After a greeting from the school council president, GACKT announced and held an awards ceremony for Miss and Mister Camui♂Gakuen, who had been previously chosen from among those who had applied through GACKT's official LINE account.
Then the band members and dancers put on a short skit and after an intermission, the second part of the event began. They began their performance as a cover band that is part of the school's music club, called "SUPER EXCELLENT HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS IN JAPAN." GACKT is the main vocalist of this band, whose name is shortened as "SEX JAPAN." Because it is a school festival, fans are able to hear GACKT singing covers of songs by other artists. They performed songs by famous artists, such as T.M.Revolution's, "WHITE BREATH" and a B'z medley, interspersed with casual MCs. He also dressed in women's clothing and danced to K-pop hit songs by artists such as KARA and BIGBANG, creating a huge sense of excitement in the audience.
He also put on roller skates and covered a song by HIKARU GENJI, a super popular idol group from the eighties. Every time, GACKT cosplays as YOSHIKI and plays drums to X JAPAN, but this time surprise guest also appeared, greatly exciting the fans.
They performed as a cover band, but both the music and the dancing for every song was high-level and the covers were perfect. This event, very different than the dignified performances GACKT usually gives, is thoroughly entertaining and stirs deep emotions from those who see it. The final performance of this school festival was held on December 22 at XEBIO ARENA SENDAI in Miyagi prefecture.
Following that performance, GACKT will perform an event entitled "Magnificent Classical Evening" with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra at December 26 at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. On February 12, 2014, he will release his long-awaited single "PS.I LOVE U," which includes two theme songs. In the beginning of March, he will release a photo book featuring pictures of this year's tour "GACKT LIVE TOUR 2013 BEST OF THE BEST," and on March 26 he will release the DVD and Blu-ray of that tour. It has also been announced that "MOON SAGA-Yoshitsune Hiden-," a work written, produced by, and starring GACKT will have a second chapter.
