On February 11, GACKT held a release event for his forty-fourth single, "P.S. I LOVE U" at the AiiA Theater in Shibuya. His words brought tears to the eyes of the seven hundred fans that were able to attend the event.
The conception of this single took more than half a year. Dissatisfied with his lyrics, he re-wrote them many times, and according to GACKT, the song ended up becoming "a work he would like to be received as his last testament." Various episodes leading up to the release of the single, overseen by Ruikatsu Project's Hiroki Terai, were introduced in places like on GACKT's Official Facebook, drawing the interest of many people.
The purpose of the current episode was to make people think about "the best way to show love." GACKT's message to go along with this episode was also to make people think about "making preparations for death." Over a period of just four days, around 10,000 people left comments on the topic on GACKT's Official Facebook.
This event was decided at the last minute after GACKT saw people's comments as he fervently expressed that, "I want to answer the comments of the fans."
Not only did GACKT talk about the comments that were contributed to his official Facebook; he also spoke about his personal life. Cued by his consciousness of the idea of "the words we leave for loved ones," GACKT brought up the topic of the passing of Kami, now-deceased, who was member of Malice Mizer at the same time as GACKT was. For the first time, GACKT showed fans his visits to Kami's grave on Kami's birthday and the anniversary of his death, which GACKT called "essential." Tears appeared in GACKT's eyes as he talked about Kami, saying, "I still haven't come to terms with it."
Fans listened intently to GACKT's confession, and following the screening of the music video for the new song, which can be called GACKT's "last testament," tears were also visible in the eyes of the audience members.
