GACKT's Magnificent Performance with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra

On December 26, GACKT held a classical performance at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall entitled "GACKT x Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra Kareinaru classic no yuube." GACKT mesmerized those who were able to get tickets to this premium performance, the first ever of its kind in GACKT's history as a performer.

The first part of the performance featured conductor Hirofumi Kurita as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra performed GACKT's songs. They began with the song "Bolero," the customary prelude to GACKT's "VISUALIVE" solo performances. They also performed songs such as the gentle ballad, "Kimi ni Aitakute" and the song "Zan~ZAN~," which blends a "Japanese" feeling with rock. Playing a total of five songs, they took GACKT's worldview to a magnificent new level through the power of classical music.

During the second part of the performance, GACKT appeared onstage as they played the song "LOST ANGELS." GACKT sang, undaunted, in the face of the vastly different environment and the feeling of tension hanging in the air, even in the audience. GACKT performed four songs with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

They performed songs such as "Todokanai Ai to Shitteita no ni Osaekirezu ni Aishitsuzuketa…," which GACKT has not recently played live, as well as the song "LOVE LETTER," which has become a fixture at fans' weddings ever since the release of the song. The audience was mesmerized as the fusion between GACKT's songs and classical music added new depth to the music and created a "GACKT World."

After the curtain call, as an encore GACKT performed "12gatsu no Love Song" as a Christmas present to fans, the performance a perfect way to end out the year 2013.

In 2014, GACKT will be celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of his solo debut. In February, he will release his new song "P.S. I LOVE U," which is the commercial song for VARTIX. Starting in March, he will also release DVDs of his best tour "BEST OF THE BEST vol.1" and "Kamui♂Gakuen de Semenasai."

GACKT is currently working on the script for his play, "Yoshitsune Hiden Part Two," which is scheduled to begin performances starting in the summer.
