AAA’s Naoya Urata Releases Solo Cover Album “UNCHANGED”: “Determination” Packed In Title

AAA’s leader, Naoya Urata, has announced that he would be releasing a solo cover album under his solo name, URATA NAOYA.

Urata made his solo debut with the album “TURN OVER” in 2009 and revealed his unearthly high-tone falsetto to win over the hearts of his fans. In 2010, he released the single “DREAM ON” produced by Ayumi Hamasaki with whom he has a deep relationship (they call each other “brother” and “sister”) and won 1st place on the Oricon charts. Urata has been ambitiously working as a singer outside of AAA with making guest appearances in May J. and Mao Denda’s songs and more.

With his 30th birthday being one of the biggest motivators, he began a project in February 2013, to compile covers of songs from the ‘90s by which he was deeply influenced. Kicked off with MISIA’s “It’s just love” and including CHAGE and ASKA’s “LOVE SONG”, he began releasing a cover track every month. It didn’t take long for fans, staff and even Urata himself to vocally demand the tracks to be released on CD via such SNS services as Twitter.

The wait is over. The songs are now confirmed to be released as an album.

Alongside news of the album’s release, the Web shop “UN SHOP’s” opening has been announced with a new merchandise project. With the wishes to “create items designed myself (Urata himself)”, samples had been in the works underwater. Although he initially intended to use these goods personally, through popular demands, it was decided to be released as items to accompany “UNCHANGED”.
