Arashi's New Single "Calling/Breathless" Sets Group's Record For Best First Week Sales

Arashi's 40th single, "Calling/Breathless", sold 756,00 copies in its first week, setting a new group record for most copies of a music release sold in its first week.

Prior to the new single, the group's strongest first week sales came from their best of album, "All the BEST! 1999-2009", which was released on August 19, 2009 and sold 753,000 copies in its first week. Arashi's best first week sales for a single occurred in November of 2010 with the release of "Hatenai Sora". The single sold 572,000 copies in its first week.

"Calling/Breathless" is the best selling single by a male artists since KAT-TUN's debut single, "Real Face", was released on March 22nd, 2006. The single sold 754,000 copies during its first week of release.

The new single marks Arashi's 36th single to top the Oricon weekly singles chart. The group has now had 29 consecutive chart-topping singles, a streak that started when "Pikanchi Double" was released on February 18th, 2004.
